I have decided that instead of doing a canvas with a quote, I will doing a series of 3 ballerinas on canvases. I will be making these for my sisters birthday, like I mentioned in my previous post. Today I began to draw my first ballerina. I have finished the bottom half, but the top half, especially the head is much more harder to draw. I am hoping to get a ballerina sketched out each week. After I have the ballerinas sketched I will paint over it and add toule for their skirts. This should take two to three weeks. Most likely I will work on some of this at home, but I don't mind doing that and believe the final product will be better if I do it outside of class.

This past week I have been choosing the quotes for my boards. For one I have decided on " Give me speed, Give me Strength, Let me Fly". For my second board I am considering making one for my sister for her birthday. She will be turning six, so it will probably be princess themed. Her birthday is April 30 so I have plenty of time to get it done, even if I begin the other board first.
I have finally decided on what my innovation project will be. I will be doing a art project! My plan is to paint one or two canvases with "inspirational" quotes on them. I chose this project so I could have some extra decor in my room at home and my dorm room next year when I go off to college. At the dorms of the colleges I have visited, many girls have these on these on their walls. I have also seen this on many Pinterest pages. Having this as my innovation project would be a great opportunity for me to finally try this idea.
My TED talk for my innovation project went well. I still have not decided on my new project. Next week I will have to decide and begin. I realize that if I keep stalling and putting a new project off, it will be a long time before I begin a new one. Some ideas I have are around nutrition, running or maybe a art project.
As of right now I am in between projects and am undecided of what to do next. I would like to do another "running" project and keep the blog running based. I feel though, that I need to branch out and do a different type of topic. Hopefully by next week I will have decided on a topic that is both interesting and fun.
Last Saturday was the footlocker nationals race. It was such a great experience. It was in San Diego Ca. and it was 65 degrees which was really nice. Running with all these girls who were such good runners was a kind of a honor. Many of the girls there will probably go on to run professionally after they finish their college running career. There were professional and Olympic runners (including Molly Huddle, Meb Kebeflezer, and Kim Conley) there who had ran at footlocker before. It was fun to actually see and meet them instead of just seeing them on social media. On top of all that we got a ton of running gear including running tights, pants, shirts, shorts, a sports bra, backpack, running shoes and other little things. Overall even if I didn't feel my best during my race it was a awesome experience and I didn't get last.
I finally broke eighteen (I ran a 17:47)and in the process I qualified for nationals! Next week on Thursday I will be flown to San Diego California to compete in the footlocker nationals cross country race on Saturday at balboa park . In am super excited to be part of this race. I will be getting to compete against the best runners in the country. To prepare for this race I going to follow the same plan I followed the week leading up to the footlocker regional race which included just two shorter speed days with the rest being way days, the week before my race. This week I am running two speed workouts and a tempo along with some easier runs. I have also began working with rob Lillie who is a running coach and will continue to work with him throughout the winter and spring to help me improve in track.
A week from tomorrow is my last race of the season and my last chance to break eighteen in the 5k this year. I am still following the 5k plan I wrote about last week. I do not know how much it will actually help, but it is better then making up my own 5k plan. My plan for this race is to run negative splits(run each mile faster). Last year I did this unintentionally because the first 1k if the race is basically uphill. I ended up running a pretty decent time considering how muddy and cold it was ( it was snowing).
Last Saturday was my last high school race. I didn't get the time that I wanted, but I did manage to win the D4 cross country state title. According to my watch I did run a sub 18 5k because on the course I had to take the outside curve on a 1000 meter stretch. The mud was so bad on the inside it was faster to take the long way. That time is not official though so it doesn't count.
In two weeks I have the footlocker regionals and that will be my last chance to break 18 officially. Since my high school season is over, I have to come up with my own training plan. I am following a 5k plan right now that five elite runners have made up for a women who is a elite runner in the 800m and wants to run a 5k. They post the workout plans each day until the race which is only two days before mine. This is perfect because I can follow the plan exactly till the last week when the only thing I will need to change is the taper time, which I will make two days later for myself. Tommorrow is my last high school cross country race! After that I am going up to Kenosha, Wi. to run in the Midwest footlocker regionals. Those will be my two last cross country races of the year and my last chances to break eighteen in the 5k. To prepare for the state meet tommorrow I have lowered my mileage for the week. I have been doing my training and workouts in the morning and after school I have just stretched and done form drills with my team. This morning I ran a easy four miles as my shakeout run and this afternoon I am doing yoga along with the team. As I said in my previous blog post I have decided not to do total rest the day before a meet. I am not doing this because the times I tried this my races did not go well. I felt very off and tired. This week I have also been back to the chiropractor. My arms have been very tired during my past races and he offered me some advice. He told me I needed to relax my shoulders while running. This will help with my arms and with my breathing. I have been working on this the past week and hope I will remember to relax my shoulders during my actual race tomorrow.
