I enjoyed having innovation time throughout the year. It was nice to have extra time to work on projects that either would not have received much attention or I would not have even started. My favorite part of innovation was my first innovation project which was breaking 18 minutes in the 5k. I believe having the extra time to concentrate on this helped me to reach my goal.

My art project is completely finished! Here is a picture of the final product, as I promised in my previous blog post.
I am almost completely done, though a bit behind schedule. This past week I added the tulle to the skirts. I had to get the tulle from hobby lobby because we did not have any at our home. It was difficult to make the tulle look right as the skirts, but after many trys I finally settled on the puffiness and shape. This week I am just going to darken the coloring on the ballerinas so that they stand out more. When I get them completed I will post a picture of them on my blog.
I now have two of my ballerina drawings colored in. I am using colored pencils for the drawing because they are more precise then using pastels, which I was originally planning on using. The color I have chosen for the ballerinas dress is pale pink. I chose this color because the ballerina drawings are for my five almost six year old sister. Next week I will finish coloring my third and final ballerina drawing and then adding the tulle to the dresses which I will glue on. After that the drawings will be completely finished and I will post some pictures.
So last week I managed to successfully ink all of my drawings, except for the face of one of them that got smudged. It was not as hard as I had expected, but the work was still difficult. To fix the problem Of the smudged face Ijust painted over it and redrew the face. After inking the face this week, I am coloring in the ballerinas with colored pencils and adding color to their hair, lips, skin, and maybe the top half of their dresses.I am hoping I have success on inking the face a second time because I do not want to have to paint it over and redraw it a third time. I do not think I will have any trouble though, as long as I am careful.
Now that I have finished my drawings I can move on to the next step, which is outlining them in black ink. Even though I was able to get some practice in with ink drawing, I am nervous about messing up on my canvases. If I mess up and smear ink I may have to paint over it and start my drawing all over again. I will do my best to be extra careful and detail oriented while outlining with the ink to avoid any mess ups or mistakes. This will probably be the most tedious part of my project, but it will be worthwhile in the end to have the ballerinas stand out on the canvas.
I have finished painting the middle canvas a pale pink. Now that, that is done I am redrawing my (standing) ballerina on it. I am hoping that this drawing will turn out as well as the one before. It would be disappointing if I drew a ballerina that was worse than the one I drew before. After finishing this drawing all my drawings will be done, so next week I will be outlining the ballerinas in ink or paint and adding tulle to their skirts.
This past week I exceeded my goal of drawing one picture a week by drawing one and a half of my ballerina sketches. The only problem is that I forgot I needed to paint the canvas that I finished sketching this week a pale pink before beginning my sketch. So I am really behind half a sketch even though I thought I was ahead. For this upcoming week, I plan to finish my sketch I began working on last week and to paint over my other sketch. I will finish my drawing in class, but will take the canvas that needs to be painted home with me because we have the paint color that I need.
This past week I met my goal and completed my first ballerina sketch. I am now working on my second ballerina sketch. At first I thought doing the sketches would be very simple, but I was slightly mistaken. It was more complicated then I thought. Getting the right tilt and curve of the ballerina was hard to do. After many failed attempts I finally drew the ballerina in a way that was pretty satisfactory to me. It isn't perfect, though hopefully when I paint them over and add color and add the material to the skirts it will look similar to like it does in the picture below
